Paranormal Activity Review (Spoilers)

For my first real post of 2010, I wanted to review Paranormal Activity.

I decided to rent it this afternoon because it is the first horror movie in a very long time that has caught my eye. It seemed to have been made in a very interesting style. A couple documenting a haunting. And the ’surprise’ ending intrigued me, so I picked it up and went home to watch it!

I thought it was a very good movie. Very suspenseful. It was hard to tell if it was real or if ‘Katie’ and ‘Micha’ were acting. Some parts were just silly and I thought “This has to be acting, people are not seriously *this* dumb, are they?”. Like the part where Micha decided to get an Ouigi Board. I thought everyone knew not to get Ouigi Boards involved with demons? And the parts where he decided to provoke the demons. You don’t do that either dumbass!

I thought they did a good job of building suspense. And it even made me laugh a few times. In the first few minutes they heard a sound and it turned out to be the ice maker. I laughed and laughed because my ice maker scares me all the time.

The thing I did not like was the “surprise” ending. It was a typical horror movie ending. I really think they could have done much better! I couldn’t believe I was expecting something better than “oh noes! girl is possessed, has super-human powers and kills her boyfriend!”

Overall, the movie was great. If you watch it, just skip it after she gets up and leaves the room again. It gets so typical. Not “surprising” unless you call typical surprising. I was very dissapointed by the ending.

Lastly, I even researched whether or not the movie was real and still could not find a stable answer, so good job film makers! I give you that one!

Question for Everyone!

One of my resolutions for this year is to blog more and on more subjects that people might find interesting. So, I want to ask the people that might read this blog, what would you want to see me write about? Reviews, cooking, history, art, fashion, current events? Whatever ya’ll would like, I’ll fit it in as often as I can!

Technology

This post was mostly inspired by an article on Amazon.com.

If anyone knows me, they know that for the most part, I hate technology. I feel that all it has done is make society lazy and uneducated. They now have all sorts of things that do all of your work for you. Computers, I think, are awesome if used right. But for the most part, all I see is teenagers being inspired to use terrible grammar and spell incorrectly on purpose! What good is this to the world?

Cell phones are alright, although, I mostly only use mine to call my mother or grandmother. I text a little bit and tweet from my phone also, but unlike most people(which is probally why no one texts me) I use proper spelling and sentences in my texts. I find that texting is not an excuse to throw grammar out the window.

Touch Screens are probally one of the best ideas, but most poorly executed pieces of technology there is! I bought my iPod Touch, thinking that it would be so great! I barely use it now that I have it because I can’t operate it! The touch screen barely works! Those “Self-Check” things at Winn Dixie, they always end up saying “hurry up” because it takes me almost punching the screen to get it to accept “English” or “Pay Now”.

The Verizon Wireless stores now have these touch-screen computers that you have to sign in on before they will help you. Took me about 30 minutes to do about 3 steps when we went in to get my BlackBerry. When we were finished, my finger hurt.

I’m getting tired, so I’ll just close this up.

Apparantly, more people bought “Kindle” books than physical books this Christmas. That to me, is just depressing. Don’t you have enough electronic waves in your brain from all the cell phones and electronics and things that scan you when you walk in and out of stores? Obviously not, because you want to put even more in there by reading!

I don’t know if its just me or what, but I love going into the bookstore and looking for books and looking at the covers, reading the covers. If anyone else likes the covers of books and owning physical books over electronic books, please comment, because I feel very alone here.

Achidanza, which prince Naveen says in The Princess And The Frog, means ‘dances’ in Italian. Haha!

Computer Problems

The computer has a virus, so I am unable to post from there at the moment. We are trying to get it fixed and then I will be updating with pictures and

Rant: Prince Naveen Is Not African American! OMFG!

Alrighty, so the whole race issue everyone is bringing up in The Princess And The Frog is really starting to make me mad. It. Is. Just. A. Movie! A great one at that! Who cares if Tiana marries a white man or a black man or a little short mexican man? Not me!

After I read a review of the movie that did not even speak of the movie, but only of the fact that Naveen is not FULL African American. So what? Anyway, after hearing that a few more times, I decided to Google “What race is Prince Naveen?” I was directed to a ton of insane articles in blogs about “OMFG! PRINCE NAVEEN ISH NOT AFRICAN AMERICAN!! TIANA DOES NOT DESERVE THIS!! FUUUU!” I decided, this is rant worthy.

One of the blogs I read was just crazy. I quote from it:

Maybe you can figure it out, but I have a good idea that he’s just a Ken doll dipped in a vat of caramel-colored paint.

Maybe not the best picture, but it was what I could find on google images. I think Naveen looks great! What I’ve figured from the beginning he must be is like French and African American. I seriously don’t get the problem, he’s obviously half-something! And you know what I say to these people saying “oh noes!” You know what, your president is half black half white. What do you have to say about that? You realize by saying that Naveen should not be a Disney Prince and be marrying an African American woman, you are in a way, putting down President Obama for marrying a lovely African American woman and being President?

Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen…Naveen?? Sounds like a jar of black hair creme. Even ‘Tyrone’ would be ten times better.

Really? Really Lady?! I don’t know if I have a warped point of view, but I thought that Naveen was a pretty good name. Sounds very nice and prince-ly. It *does* have to at least sound like a prince’s name. Do you really want a “Prince Tyrone of Maldonia”? Now that doesn’t sound too right does it? Not very prince-ly.

I just find it so ridiculous that people cannot set aside race and enjoy a good movie! I for one, when I saw the movie, decided I’m going to be Tiana for Halloween next year. Why can’t the rest of you complaining just put down the race card and enjoy pure Disney awesomeness?

Christmas Decorations! Yay!

So, if you know me at all, you know that my grandfather is a Jehovah’s Witness and we have to celebrate Christmas in secret. Well, this year, we decided to get deer for the yard!!! Just a few pictures of our lovely deer that we got!

Disney’s Latest Fairy Tale: The Princess and The Frog!

I believe I read somewhere to put on your blog if you are advertising it, that you are not being paid for the advertisement, if you are not being payed, and well, I am not being paid! I’m just a Disney lover that is very happy to see a new fairy tale with a new princess out!

And, while looking for a trailer for ya’ll to watch, I found a sneak peak with the first 5 minutes of the movie! I guess it was on Disney Channel and I missed it…

Some parts aren’t fully colored, but its the real thing!

The main thing I love about this movie, is that its going back to the old Disney animation, the old kind of music(well, almost. There’s gonna be one song by Ne-Yo in there, but eh, its pretty good!). Disney movies were so wonderful about 10 years or so back, not that they aren’t now. But we haven’t had a good old Disney fairy tale in so long!

Everything about this movie is just so adorable! The music, the animation, the characters! This will surely go down as a classic! If you missed last night’s sneak peak on ABC, I feel sorry for ya. It was a show talking about Disney’s history of animation with tons of little sneak peaks for The Princess And The Frog! I must say, I love the story and the characters even more every time I see more of them! I think I shall explode from the awesomeness this Friday when I see the whole movie!

You’d be just crazy if you’re a Disney fan to not see this movie! This is going to be one of the best Disney movies yet, I’m sure of it! So, be sure to go see it when it comes out December 11th! Thats this Friday! I know that I’ll be there first showing!

4 Posts in the coming week/ Vegan-ness!

Yup. Gonna be blogging like crazy for the rest of the night. And *hopefully* showing my friend why he’s ignorant for thinking that PETA is a stupid cause. I couldn’t believe it when he said that. I was just like “wow I don’t even know you, ya jerk”.

On that same topic, my Vegetarian Starter Kit came from PETA today! The recipes they have in there just look too delicious!! I cannot wait til I can get back to the grocery store and buy ingredients! Monday probally. My faves in there are the book are the Chocolate Mousse and the “mock” Fried Chicken! That Fried Chicken looks better than the real stuff!

Ya’ll Vegans know what ya’ll are doin when it comes to recipes! I don’t know how I ever ate meat with such yummy looking and healthier alternatives! And everyone can look for pics here as I try new recipes!!

So, anyway, I’ll get to writing up the posts that I’m gonna set to publish throughout the week. And will probally have some pics tomorrow if we go to Bellingrath Gardens like we are planning tomorrow night! Loves!
